Welcome to Philly’s Chinatown! We are thrilled to unveil "The Gateway to the World - 2026 Chinatown Art Project," a visual art corridor that bridges global cultures with Philadelphia’s rich history.
Led by artists Chenlin Cai and Xingzi Liang, supported by PCDC. This project features a series of 3x3 ft murals blending 2026 FIFA World Cup national symbols (flora/fauna/flag colors) with iconic Philly landmarks ("Circle of Unity") like the Chinatown Friendship Gate, Liberty Bell, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia City Hall, Cruiser Olympia (Independence Seaport Museum), Philadelphia City Skyline, Philadelphia Row Houses, Love Park, Philadelphia soft pretzels (Heart shape), Rocky Statue.
This mural rooting the global celebration in local history.
Inspired by the Chinese concept of "宾至如归" (Bīn zhì rú guī)—making every guest feel right at home—we’ve created a cultural feast for visitors from across the globe. Plus, it’s a community-powered movement! 16 students and local residents collaborated with us to bring these pieces to life. The most effective form of public art education is to provide community members with an immersive sense of engagement and ownership. The participation of the next generation is essential for the enduring preservation and transmission of culture."
